Eurozone GDP growth at 0.2% in Q3

The seasonally adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) in the euro area increased by 0.2% in the third quarter of 2019 compared to the previous three months, according to an estimate released by Eurostat on Thursday. The figure is unchanged for Eurostat's previous estimate. In the whole European Union (EU28), the economy grew by 0.3% quarter on quarter. In the previous quarter, the GDP had grown 0.2% in both the euro area and the EU28.

Annually, the seasonally adjusted GDP grew by 1.2% in the Eurozone in the three-month period, while the figure was up by 1.4% in the EU28 compared to the same period in 2018. By member state, the largest GDP growth was registered in Poland at 1.3%, while the lowest growth was observed in Germany, Italy and Austria, in all of which GDP was up by 0.1%.

In the third quarter, employment in both the euro area and the EU28 rose by 0.1% compared to the previous quarter.
