Eurozone GDP rises by 0.4% in Q1

Seasonally adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) in the euro area in the first quarter of 2019 increased by 0.4% compared to the previous quarter, according to a preliminary estimate released by Eurostat on Tuesday. For the whole of the European Union, the GDP increased by 0.5%.

Annually, the seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 1.2% in the Eurozone in the first quarter, while the figure was up by 1.5% in the EU28 compared to the same period in 2018.

A second estimate will be published on May 15 and the final estimate is due to be released on June 6.
