Eurozone producer prices up by 0.5% in February

Producer prices in the Eurozone (EA19) increased in February, moving up by 0.5% compared to the previous month and by 1.5% in comparison to the same month a year prior, Eurostat said in its report published on Thursday. In the whole European Union (EU27), the figure gained 0.7% versus January and 1.7% year over year.

On a monthly basis, the prices of the intermediate goods advanced 2.4% in the euro area and 2.6% in the EU, while the energy sector saw upward movements of 2.3% and 3.0%, respectively. Durable consumer goods prices rose by 1.2% in the Eurozone and by 1.5% in the bloc, while the prices of non-durable consumer goods slid by 0.4% in the EA19, and by 0.3% in the entire EU. Capital goods added 0.9% in both areas.

Greece and Luxembourg recorded the highest monthly jumps in producer prices, while Ireland and Spain registered the sharpest declines, month-on-month.
