Eurozone retail sales drop 0.6% in October
The seasonally adjusted volume of goods sold in retail in the Eurozone decreased 0.6% in October compared to the previous month, Eurostat said on Thursday. It slipped 0.2% in the euro area in September. However, calendar adjusted retail sales index jumped 1.4% year-on-year in October.
Non-food products retail sales slid 1.1% on a monthly basis while food, drinks, and tobacco increased by 0.3%. Meanwhile, automotive fuel retail sales slipped by 0.6% compared to September.
Germany and Ireland were the worst performers as both countries' retail sales fell by 1.9%. On the other hand, Portugal had the best results, managing to increase its retail sales by 2.1%.
