Eurozone trade deficit at €30.6B in January

The trade deficit in the euro area arrived at €30.6 billion in January, slightly rising by 1.3% from the same period in 2022. In the European Union, the trade deficit was €34.6 billion, marking a 10.4% decrease compared to January last year.

Eurozone imports in the corresponding period rose by 9.7% to stand at €253.5 billion, while exports increased by 11% year-on-year to €222.9 billion. Intra-euro area trade was up by 11.6% annually to €223.8 billion.

In the EU, imports recorded a 7% growth to €233.3 billion, and exports increased 10.6% from January 2022 to reach €198.6 billion. Intra-EU trade rose to €345.7 billion, gaining 12.1% on a yearly basis.
