Eurozone trade deficit up to €16.4B in March

Euro area trade deficit amounted to €16.4 billion in March 2022, according to the report released by Eurostat on Monday. In the same month, the entire European Union (EU27) registered a trade deficit of €27.7 billion.

Exports of goods from the Eurozone to the rest of the world stood at €250.1 billion in March 2022, up 14% year-on-year, while imports soared 35.4% on a yearly basis to reach €266.5 billion. Intra-Eurozone trade surged 21.2% from March 2021 to €236.8 billion in the same month in 2022.

EU27 exports grew 12.8% annually to €220.5 billion in March 2022, while imports came in at €248.2 billion in the same month, jumping 40.4% compared to March 2021. Intra-EU trade amounted to €368.7 billion in March 2022, 19.7% higher compared to the corresponding month the previous year.
