Eurozone trade surplus at €26.9B in March

Euro area trade recorded a €26.9 billion rise in goods with the rest of the world in March compared to the same month last year, Eurostat's first non seasonally adjusted estimates revealed on Friday. Meanwhile, in the entire European Union (EU28) the surplus in trade in goods stood at €11.5 billion in the same month.

Eurozone export of goods in March was €199.9 billion, marking a 2.9% decrease year over year. On the other hand, the preliminary data showed fall of 1.5% in imports from the rest of the world, coming in at €173 billion. Intra-euro area fell to €170.5 billion, down 0.6% compared to March 2017.

Looking at data for the European Union, exports went down by 2.4% to €172.1 billion, while imports from the rest of the world declined 4.2% to €160.6 billion.
