Eurozone trade surplus up to €24.8B in September

Euro area trade surplus in September amounted to €24.8 billion, a 36% increase compared to the same month the previous year, Eurostat said in its preliminary report on Friday.

Exports of goods from the Eurozone fell 3.1% year-on-year, standing at €190.3 billion, while imports dropped 7.1% to €165.5 billion. In January to September, exports were down 11.3% per annum at €1.6 trillion, while imports declined 12.4% to €1.4 trillion.

The bloc's exports and imports to the United States fell 10.0% and 11.4% respectively. Sales to China remained unchanged while imports grew 4.5%. The figures for the United Kingdom were minus 17.9% and minus 16.0%.
