Eurozone unemployment rate at 6.6% in February
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the euro area ran at 6.6% in February, with the figure marginally unchanged in comparison to the last month's reading, Eurostat revealed in its report on Friday. The rate went down by 0.2 percentage points on the annual basis.
In the entire European Union the unemployment rate clocked in at 6% in February, down from the January figure and 0.2 percentage points lower year-over-year.
Spain had the highest unemployment percentage among EU member states at 12.8%, followed by Greece at 11.4%. Meanwhile, the countries with the lowest unemployment rate were Czechia with 2.4%, Poland with 2.8%, and Germany with 2.9%. According to the Eurostat, 13.2 million people were unemployed in the European Union in February, of which the majority living in the euro area.
