Ex-health advisor says UK lockdown might happen soon

The United Kingdom could reimpose some COVID-19 lockdown measures "sooner rather than later," a former senior government health advisor Neil Ferguson, a professor of epidemiology at London’s Imperial College said on Saturday.

Ferguson told BBC that "some additional measures are likely to be needed sooner rather than later," and that a second lockdown might be needed to stop testing being overwhelmed.

Asked about a mini-lockdown covering October half term and whether people should be banned from traveling abroad, Ferguson stated transmission between households is more of a risk.
