Ex-Tesla employee accuses company of misconduct, deceiving public

Former Tesla Inc. employee Martin Tripp filed a whistleblower tip with the Securities and Exchange Commission claiming Elon Musk's company knowingly installed faulty batteries into its cars, used scrap and waste material in vehicles to meet production quotas, as well as misinformed the public about the weekly production rates of Model 3 by as much as 44%. Tripp is being sued by his ex-employer which claims he wrote software "that hacked Tesla's manufacturing operating system" and "transferred several gigabytes of Tesla data to outside entities."

"Getting the truth out has become a nightmare. While we have had to relocate due to threats and harassment, both online and offline, making it difficult to press on, my family and I have also received a ton of support, which keeps us going," Tripp said in a statement. "I hope that, in the end, my fight will make it easier for future whistleblowers to come forward without fear of repercussions like those I have endured."
