Facebook execs don't prioritize public safety - whistleblower

People holding executive positions at Facebook Inc. don't "necessarily ask questions around public safety," the company's former employee-turned-whistleblower Frances Haugen (pictured) asserted on Monday.

Speaking before the United Kingdom Parliament's Joint Committee on the draft Online Safety Bill, Haugen pointed out that most "vice presidents and directors" didn't have a job prior to joining Facebook and are, hence, oriented "towards goals they have been given."

"If you make noise" and ask for help, "people will not rally for help," she said, explaining that there is "no internal incentive" to speak out if there is a problem within the company.
