Fauci on COVID-19: US is not in good place

United States National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci told ABC the country is "not in a good place" when it comes to the coronavirus situation.

"There are states that are starting to show an uptick in cases and even some increase in hospitalizations in some states," Fauci said in an interview aired n Monday and warned that the US may also see a rise in the number of deaths. Furthermore, the epidemiologist stressed that global virus numbers are "very serious."

According to data from the Johns Hopkins University, US COVID-19 infections jumped 9% last week compared to the week before. Fauci noted the number of daily cases is too high and the country should aim to bring it to 10,000 or fewer as the colder season arrives.
