FB staff told to save interaction amid inquiries - report

Facebook Inc. told its employees to preserve all the communication and documents they have been engaged in since 2016 in case the United States' authorities demand them for legal proceedings, the New York Times (NYT) reported on Wednesday.

"As you are probably aware, we're currently the focus of extensive media coverage based on a swath of internal documents," the company said in the e-mail it sent to its staff. "As is often the case following this kind of reporting, a number of inquiries from governments and legislative bodies have been launched into the company’s operations."

The report comes after whistleblower Frances Haugen, the firm's former employee, claimed Facebook has been putting its profit before its users' safety for years. The company's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mark Zuckerberg dismissed the allegations.
