Fed's Evans calls for more fiscal stimulus

United States Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) non-voting member and Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Charles Evans said on Thursday that the US economy needs more stimulus from the government amid the coronavirus crisis. Evans added it will be difficult to see a full inclusive recovery until the virus is sustained and controlled.

The central banker pointed out that politicians in Washington DC are taking "serious, unnecessary risks" by not giving more funds to those who lost their jobs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Evans especially stressed that minorities and low-income families have felt the "unfair burden" of the recession most.

The Chicago Fed president also noted that the Fed is willing to use an array of tools to continue helping the economy amid the crisis.
