FEMA's Director Brock Long resigns

United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Director Brock Long (pictured) announced on Wednesday that he is resigning from his position.

"It has been a great honor to serve our country as @fema Administrator for the past two years. While this has been the opportunity of the lifetime, it is time for me to go home to my family," Lang tweeted.

Long was appointed to head FEMA in 2017 and oversaw the agency's response to Harvey, Maria and Irma hurricanes. He was in the center of a controversy into possible misuse of government vehicles launched by the Department of Homeland Security.

Long's deputy Peter Gaynor will serve as the acting administrator.
