Ford to double electric pickup output to 150K units per year

Ford Motor Company announced on Tuesday it is planning to nearly double the production of its all-electric F-150 Lightning pickup at its Michigan plant to 150,000 units per year by mid-2023.

The move comes in response to "soaring customer demand" for the mode, according to the carmaker. "With nearly 200,000 reservations, our teams are working hard and creatively to break production constraints to get more F-150 Lightning trucks into the hands of our customers," Kumar Galhotra, president of The Americas & International Markets Group at Ford, said.

The F-150 Lightning was first unveiled in May 2021 and the carmaker said it will invite the first batch of reservation holders to place their orders for the pickup truck later this week.
