Ford to pause ads on social media for 30 days

Ford Motor Company announced on Monday it will stop advertisements on social media platforms in the United States for the next 30 days.

The carmaker said it would reconsider its presence on all social media platforms, noting that spending on ads on such platforms would be evaluated in other regions as well. The company also said that hate speech and other content related to violence and racial injustice should be removed from these platforms.

Last week, Coca-Cola also said it will pause its paid advertisements on global social media platforms for at least 30 days after major social media firms failed to prevent the spread of racist messages on their platforms. Verizon, Unilever, PepsiCo Inc. as well as Adidas and Reebok also joined social media ad boycott.
