Ford to recall approximately 1.5M vehicles

Ford Motor Company is planning to recall approximately 1.5 million vehicles in North America due to inadvertent shifts to the vehicles' first gear which caused accidents, CNBC reported on Wednesday. The company said it identified a defect which causes the vehicle to temporarily switch to first gear. So far, 5 accidents have been reported, the auto industry giant confirmed.

Among the affected vehicles are 2011-2013 Ford F-150 with automatic transmission, 2017-2019 Lincoln Continental, and some Ford Mustang, Lincoln Nautilus, and Lincoln Navigator models from 2019. The vehicles intended for the recall were all assembled at Ford's Dearborn and Kansas City assembly plants.

Ford shares traded 0.65% in the positive territory at 3:51 am ET.
