Foster: Govt-Labour talks were doomed to failure

Arlene Foster, the leader of the Northern Irish Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), criticized the United Kingdom government on Friday for "wasting time" on Brexit talks with Labour which were "always doomed to failure."

"This round of talks has wasted time rather than making progress and reducing uncertainty," Foster said. "The Government should reject the backstop and work for a sensible deal which unionists throughout the United Kingdom can support," she added.

Earlier today, Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn announced that the talks between his party and the government ended unsuccessfully and that Labour will continue to oppose the existing Brexit deal. Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Theresa May blamed the collapse of the talks on the divisions within the Labour party.
