France gives UK 2-week deadline on fishing - report

France has given the United Kingdom until November 1 to approve more licences for French fishermen or face retaliatory measures, according to sources quoted by The Telegraph.

The ultimatum was set during a meeting on Monday with the European Commission and representatives from the French fishing industry, sources said. "We are two weeks away from this decision. Nothing has been ruled out today, neither by France nor by the European Commission," French Minister of the Sea Annick Girardin (pictured) told reporters after the meeting.

French President Emmanuel Macron has reportedly instructed his government to devise plans for retaliation against the UK in four areas, including energy supply cuts.
