France's annual inflation hits 5.9% in December
Consumer prices in France will have seen an increase of 5.9% year over year in December, the country's statistical office INSEE revealed in its preliminary report released on Wednesday. On a monthly level, the figure went down by 0.1%.
The report projected the prices of energy to have observed a year-on-year rise of 15.1% and those of food of 12.1%. Manufactured goods are projected to go up by 4.6% and services by 2.9%.
The Harmonized Consumer Price Index (HCPI) is expected to grow by 6.7% on an annual basis, while it should fall by 0.1% on a monthly one.
