French central bank to test own digital currency in 2020

François Villeroy de Galhau, the governor of the Banque de France, said on Wednesday that the bank will be starting projects on and testing a digital currency next year. He said the bank plans to start experimenting by the end of the first quarter of 2020. Villeroy de Galhau added that he wants France to be the first country to have its own digital currency.
