FIBA bans Russia, Belarus from tournaments

International Basketball Federation (FIBA) decided on Wednesday to exclude all Russian and Belarusian national teams from their tournaments "over the coming months."

FIBA's Executive Committee announced that no competitions will be held in Russia and Belarus, while their national teams will be withdrawn from FIBA National Team Competitions including the men's team in the qualifying matches for the 2023 World Cup and the women's team for 2022 World Cup. In addition, both Russian and Belarusian teams will not take part in the 3x3 Europe Cup and World Cup 2022.

In March, FIBA confirmed that all Russian teams and officials are banned from its competitions, following the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee Executive Board to exclude all Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions.
