FTC won't back down amid Big Tech intimidation - Khan

United States Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan said on Wednesday the agency will "not back down" amid intimidation from tech giants.

"We’re really showing these companies, but also showing the country, that enforcers are not going to back down because of these companies flexing some muscle or kind of trying to intimidate us," Khan told CNBC and added it takes "courage" to stand up to such big and powerful companies. "The fact that some of these firms have gotten maybe lighter touch treatment in the past, I think we’re now seeing them respond to as some of the cases and the enforcement actions pile up," she noted.

Last year, Facebook and Amazon called on Khan to recuse herself from antitrust cases against them, citing prejudice, which the FTC chair refused to do and was backed by a judge.
