Garland seeks $85M for domestic terrorism fight

United States Attorney General Merrick Garland is asking Congress for $85 million in additional funding to tackle domestic terrorism, according to his prepared testimony before a House Appropriations subcommittee.

Garland will also seek $33 million more in civil rights funding, according to his statement, as the Department of Justice's "civil rights work is critical to protecting the American dream."

In the aftermath of the January 6 Capitol riots, Garland told lawmakers earlier this year that it is critical to crack down on domestic terrorism.
