German 7-day incidence rate at record 840.3

The German seven-day COVID-19 incidence rate continues to increase since setting a record and nearing 600 last week when the nation topped 100 thousand daily cases for the first ime.

Early on Monday, data compiled by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) showed that the rate, which measures the number of people infected per 100 thousand, has risen to 840.3 to reach its highest level since the pandemic began.

The nationwide death toll increased to 116,746 in the meantime, with another 28 fatal outcomes attributed to the virus, while the total number of infections rose by 63,393 to 8,744,840.
