German 7-day incidence rate at record 940.6

Data compiled by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) showed that the German seven-day COVID-19 incidence rate has risen to its highest level since the start of the pandemic.

The rate, which measures the number of people infected per 100,000, further increased to 940.6 from the previous record rate of 840.3, jumping above 900 for the first time.

In the meantime, the nationwide death toll reached 117,126, with another 166 fatal outcomes attributed to the virus, while 164,000 new infections were seen which took the country's total to 9,035,795.
