German GDP to grow more than forecasted - Scholz

Germany's Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (pictured) stated on Wednesday that he expects the country's economic growth to be stronger than previously forecasted.

"We have a reason for optimism, the upswing is underway," the official asserted, noting that the country's debt ratio remains the lowest among the G7 states. However, the coronavirus pandemic will continue to affect the economy through next year, he added.

Earlier today, data from IHS Markit showed that the private sector activity in Germany continues to grow.
