German industrial output rises 1.2% in May

German industrial production increased by a seasonally adjusted 1.2% in May compared to the previous month, the country’s statistical office Destatis announced on Friday. The April figure was adjusted from the initially reported 0.8% monthly rise to an increase of 0.7%.

In May, industrial production, excluding energy and construction grew 1.3%. The report states that the production of capital goods jumped 2.6%, while the production of consumer goods increased 1.4% from February. Energy production climbed 2.9% from the previous month.

The production of intermediate goods edged down 0.2%, while production in construction declined 1% on a monthly basis in May.
