German inflation up to 4.1% in September

Consumer prices in Germany increased by 4.1% in September compared to the corresponding month last year, according to a preliminary report released by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Thursday. On a monthly basis, consumer prices were unchanged.

The annual goods inflation rate stood at 6.1%, with energy prices soaring 14.3% and food prices rising 4.9%. Prices of services were 2.5% higher year on year, while rents have gone up 1.4%.

In August, annual inflation stood at 3.9% and in July, it was 3.8%.
