German inflation up to 4.5% in October

Consumer prices in Germany increased by 4.5% in October compared to the corresponding month last year, according to a preliminary report released by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Thursday. On a monthly basis, consumer prices were up 0.5%.

The annual goods inflation rate stood at 7.0%, with energy prices soaring 18.6% and food prices rising 4.4%. Prices of services were 2.4% higher year on year, while rents have gone up 1.4%.

In September, annual inflation stood at 4.1% while in August it was 3.9%.
