German producer prices drop 1.9% YoY in April

Producer prices in Germany decreased by 1.9% year-on-year in April, the country's statistical office Destatis reported on Friday. The index was 0.7% down in comparison to March.

Energy prices fell by 7.3% and 1.8% on a yearly and on a monthly basis, respectively. Prices of intermediate goods declined 2.7% from April 2019 and 0.5% from March 2020, while the prices of capital goods increased by 1.2% on an annual basis and 0.1% month-on-month.

Prices of durable consumer goods were 1.2% and 0.2% higher compared to April 2019 and March 2020, respectively. Non-durable consumer goods' prices rose by 2.8% year-over-year, but slipped 0.3% in comparison to the previous month.
