German producer prices rise 2.0% in April

Producer prices in Germany increased 2.0% in April compared to the same month last year, the country's national statistical office, Destatis, announced on Friday. In March, the producer price index was up 1.9%.

On a monthly basis, the producer price index was up 0.5% in April compared to March after growing 0.1% a month earlier. The index saw an increase in prices in all main industry groups.

In April, prices for energy rose 3.2% while electricity prices increased by 6.1%, petroleum prices added 3.3% and prices for natural gas rose by 4.0%. Meanwhile, prices for intermediate goods were 2.1% higher while non-durable consumer goods increased 1.1% and durable rose by 1.5%.
