German researchers claim they solved AstraZeneca thrombosis issue

Researchers working at the University of Medicine in the German town of Greifswald claimed on Friday they have detected the issue regarding the cases in which blood clots appeared following the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, as well as found an appropriate therapy.

According to Professor Andreas Greinacher, the antibodies contained in the jab trigger blood platelets in rare cases, acting similarly to when a physical wound is healing, and therefore triggering thrombosis in the brain.

The university joined forces with the Paul Ehrlich Institute and other European scientists and has developed a therapy for the health problem. The research results have been distributed to clinics so occurring cases could be immediately treated, therefore the university confirmed vaccinations using AstraZeneca's jab could safely resume.
