German trade surplus falls to €10B in December

Germany's calendar and seasonally adjusted foreign trade surplus stood at €10 billion in December, decreasing from November's figure of €10.8 billion, according to data released by Destatis on Thursday.

Exports amounted to €127.4 billion, declining 6.3% month on month but jumping 5.9% compared to December 2021. Exports to the European Union amounted to €70.9 billion, while exports to non-EU countries stood at €56.5 billion. Imports amounted to €117.4 billion, down by 6.1% on a monthly basis but up 3% year on year. Specifically, imports from the European Union dropped 4.8% month on month to reach €58.7 billion. Imports from non-EU or third countries stood at €58.8 billion.

Moreover, the non-seasonally adjusted foreign trade surplus was €9.7 billion in December.
