Germany likely to keep COVID measures in early 2021 - official

Germany is likely to remain under a strict coronavirus lockdown in the first couple of months of 2021, according to Chancellor Angela Merkel's chief of staff, Helge Braun (pictured).

Speaking to RTL, Braun noted that a "comprehensive easing is very, very unlikely" as "January and February are always difficult months in terms of respiratory tract infections."

Over the weekend, Germany decided to introduce tougher restrictions which will take effect on December 16 and last at least until January 10.
