Germany retail sales up 6.5% YoY in September

Turnover in Germany's retail trade in real terms rose 6.5% in September compared to the same month a year earlier, the country’s statistical office Destatis said in a provisional report published on Friday.

Retail sales fell 2.2% compared to the previous month in real terms.

In comparison with February of 2020, the month right before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Europe and subsequent lockdowns, turnover in September was 2.8% higher, the report noted.
