Germany's retail sales annually rise 8.2% in Oct.
Turnover in Germany's retail trade in real terms annually rose better than expected 8.2% in October, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) revealed in its report published on Wednesday. In nominal terms, the increase stood at 9.4%.
The monthly change has also beaten the estimates, advancing 2.6% in both real and nominal terms. Retail sales of food, beverages and tobacco in real terms climbed 7.3% on a yearly basis, while sales in the non-food retail sector went up 9%.
The largest increase in turnover was achieved by the internet and mail-order business, the report noted, concluding that retail turnover rebounded to stand 5.9% higher compared to the pre-crisis level.
