Germany's trade surplus at €7.0B in December

Germany's non-adjusted foreign trade surplus came in at €7.0 billion in December 2021, the country's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) revealed in its report issued on Wednesday. In calendar and seasonally adjusted terms, the figure stood at €6.8 billion. In the entire year 2021, the surplus was €173.3 billion.

In the aforementioned month, exports advanced by 0.9% in comparison to November and 15.6% in contrast with the same period in 2020 to reach €117. billion. Meanwhile, imports grew by 4.7% month-on-month and 27.8% year-on-year to €110.0 billion. In the entire 2021, exports saw an annual rise of 14.0% to €1.375 billion and imports of 17.1% to €1.202 billion.

In December 2021, Germany exported goods in the value of €63.3 billion to the European Union, and imported goods worth €56.3 billion from the bloc. Those two figures increased by 23.0% and 23.5% year-on-year, respectively.
