Gilead to boost remdesivir supply in Europe - report

Gilead Sciences Inc is planning to increase the supply of its drug remdesivir used for treating COVID-19 in Europe from the autumn, WirtschaftsWoche reported on Thursday citing the company's managing director in Germany Bettina Bauer.

Bauer stressed Gilead is looking to raise its global production of the drug from the current 190,000 treatment cycles a month to 2 million treatment cycles a month by December.

Earlier, Gilead came under fire for selling "almost entire" world supply of remdesivir to the United States. Meanwhile, the EU authorized the use of the drug for treating the coronavirus and said it is in talks with the drugmaker to secure doses of remdesivir for member states.
