Goldman Sachs CEO: Recession in 2019 unlikely

Chief executive of Goldman Sachs Group Inc., David Solomon, said on Wednesday that the chances of a recession this year are "quite small," as the United States economy is "chugging along pretty well."

"There is no question that the momentum of growth in the United States has slowed," he told CNBC, adding that "we should see reasonable growth during the course of the year." The focus of investors is on the trade talks with China, the millionaire noted.

Solomon's remarks were in line with Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's from yesterday, where he said that it doesn't seem like "the probability of recession is at all elevated."
