Google to change commercial practices in EU
Google LLC agreed to provide "clearer and more accurate information" to consumers in the European Union, the European Commission said on Thursday. Google will "limit its capacity to make unilateral changes related to orders when it comes to price or cancellations" and provide a direct email address for consumer protection authorities.
Regarding Google Flights and Google Hotels, the company committed to clarifying when consumers are in contact with Google or an intermediary, as well as providing greater transparency on prices, discounts, and availability. In Google Play Store and Google Store, the tech giant will "provide clear pre-contractual information on delivery costs, right of withdrawal and availability of repair or replacement options," facilitate contacting the company, enable consumers to use means of payment from any EU country, and "inform developers" that they must make their apps accessible EU-wide.
