GOP lawmakers vow to oppose new Ukraine aid
A group of Republican legislators expressed their disapproval of a new aid package worth $24 billion to Ukraine, a letter obtained by The Wall Street Journal on Thursday revealed.
The lawmakers insisted on receiving additional details regarding the allocation of funds from Washington and requested updates on the progress of the counteroffensive. "Are the Ukrainians any closer to victory than they were 6 months ago? What is our strategy, and what is the president's exit plan," they wrote.
Namely, the 23 House members and six senators who signed the letter expressed their concern about the funding Congress previously approved, alleging that the administration is endorsing an "open-ended commitment" to Kiev. United States President Joe Biden is expected to welcome Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House later today.
