GOP's Crenshaw to leave Congress temporarily due to surgery

United States Representative for Texas's 2nd congressional district, Dan Crenshaw (pictured), revealed on Saturday that he will take a leave of absence from Congress after undergoing an emergency eye surgery on Friday.

"The surgery went well, but I will be effectively blind for about a month," Crenshaw specified in a statement. The Texas Republican lost his right eye in an explosion nine years ago while serving as a Navy SEAL in Afghanistan. The long-term effects of the damage to his left eye from that incident resulted in the latest surgery, he explained.

"I have gotten through worse before, and I will get through this," Crenshaw concluded.
