Greece, Turkey shaken by 6.7-magnitude earthquake

A 6.7-magnitude earthquake with an epicenter located 19 kilometers north of the Greek island of Samos occurred on Friday and shook the whole country.

The focal depth of the earthquake was estimated at only two kilometers, which accounts for the tremor being felt even in the northern part of Africa.

According to the mayor of eastern Samos, Georgios Stantzos, people have remained calm despite the rather long duration of the tremor. One church has reportedly suffered serious damage, however, no casualties have been reported so far.
