Greenfield confirmed as US ambassador to UN

The United States Senate confirmed President Joe Biden's nominee, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, for the position of the US ambassador to the United Nations with a 78 to 20 vote count.

Thomas-Greenfield, 68-year-old, is a diplomatic veteran, bringing over 35 years of work experience in foreign service, including an ambassador post in Liberia and multiple foreign postings such as in Switzerland. She also navigated through the Ebola crisis as the Bureau of African Affairs chief.

20 Republican opposing voters based their decisions on citing her 2019 speech, where she may allegedly given the impression of favoring Beijing.
