Grenade thrown at police vehicle in Belfast - reports

A grenade was thrown at a police car in Belfast on Wednesday, local law enforcement confirmed on Wednesday. The vehicle was on patrol as it was struck in west Belfast's Milltown Row.

Chief Superintendent Jonathan Roberts stated: "A loud bang was then heard and the Land Rover made its way to a place of safety. Thankfully none of the officers inside the vehicle were injured and no damage was noted to the car." The suspected grenade will be forensically tested, the officer added.

Police confirmed that they are searching the area to make sure no other explosive devices are present.
