Grounded United Boeing 777s may not fly until 2022 - report

United Airlines Holdings Inc.'s 52 Boeing 777 airplanes with Pratt & Whitney engines will likely remain suspended from flying until early 2022, The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

The delay in their return to service is expected as the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is looking at proposing additional safety measures for those jets, after one such aircraft lost an engine over Colorado in February following takeoff. No injuries to passengers were reported. The FAA started its investigation as it was the third such incident in recent years.

Pratt & Whitney is Raytheon Technologies Corporation's subsidiary.
