Harley Rouda wins CA House seat for Dems

Democrat Harley Rouda won the election for the United States House of Representatives in California’s 48th district, the Associated Press declared. Rouda was running against Republican incumbent Dana Rohrabacher and edged ahead with 52% of the votes, or about 8,500 more than the GOP candidate.

Rouda already declared victory earlier on Saturday. "This victory has been powered by voters across the political spectrum, hailing from all corners, and all communities, of the 48th district. I am deeply humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve in Congress. Going forward, my mission is to be the absolute best kind of public servant - honest, transparent, accessible and tireless in serving the greater good," he said in a Twitter message. With 423 House elections confirmed, the Democratic Party currently holds 226 seats, while the Republicans have 197.
